Oasis Dufferin Community Centre is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual for the position of Community Centre Worker / Community & Church Engagement Coordinator. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with our community through various programs and initiatives including fostering relationships with local businesses, agencies, and churches.
Job Description:
Position: Community Centre Worker / Community & Church Engagement Coordinator
Start Date: July 2nd, 2024
Duration: 8 consecutive weeks
Hours: 30 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $16.55
Key Responsibilities:
Program Assistance:
Support the food bank operations, including appointment scheduling, drop-in sessions, and delivery services.
Manage the intake process for food bank clients using the Linked2Feed database, register new clients, research and provide information and referral resources.
Assist with weekly truck deliveries and manage inventory from Daily Bread Food Bank and Second Harvest.
Support with seniors' programs and activities.
Facilitate social interactions with community members, fostering a welcoming environment.
Special Projects:
Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to engage churches, local businesses and agencies with the community centre’s activities and services.
Compile and present educational program materials and activities.
Educate volunteers and community members on proper waste management practices.
Collaborate with coworkers on various projects to enhance community services.
Organize annual community summer BBQ.
Administrative Duties:
Create and distribute informative and marketing materials for community and church outreach.
Handle phone queries, emails, and manage social media platforms, including the organization's website.
Assist in recruiting and coordinating volunteer opportunities for community-based and church groups.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in using social media and managing website content.
Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
A proactive and positive attitude towards community service and engagement.
