The Big Picture
As many of you are aware, visits to our Food Bank have been on a steady increase this year. Taking into account the rising costs of food prices, lack of affordable housing and the impact that this has had upon the precariously employed and housed, we continue to push through some very tough times. The impact of the Pandemic, the economy and world events has made staggering numbers seem almost commonplace.
As difficult as times seem to be, it is important for our community to be confident that Oasis is here for them. We continue to meet the challenge of increased visits to our Food Programs on a weekly basis and offer additional Programming that is designed to support our community's immediate and long term needs.
What you can do to help:
1. Keep positive - your positive vibes, enthusiasm, humour and well wishes keep us going.
2. Get educated - read and share articles on food security, affordable housing, inflation and food prices. Knowledge is power. The more that people are in 'the know', the better chance we have of creating positive change.
3. Get involved - donate to a cause that is important to you, volunteer, advocate for change, help a neighbour in need. Good deeds are reciprocated by more good deeds.
As Brian Solis says, “Community is much more than belonging to something; its about doing something together that makes belonging matter.”
Thank you for your continued support
