Giving Tuesday
Each year we share stories of exceptional Oasis Community Members who embody what it means to share, learn & grow together.
This year, our goal is to raise $___ to cover additional food costs related to inflation.

Kalynna has seen how Oasis has evolved since the pandemic, and continues to learn and be inspired by the entire Oasis team.
Lisandro is a volunteer and member of our Spanish Senior’s community. Since 2017, he has not only donated his time and expertise, he’s also received so much from the group. Read on to hear what Oasis means to him.
A student of social work at George Brown, Chelsea shares her experience while working at Oasis Dufferin. The passion, grit, and commitment of our community keeps her inspired every day.
The first thing you might notice about Immaculate is her smile. Not only is it radiant, it also never leaves her face. Even as she tells about her harrowing journey from Uganda to Canada in 2021, she is positively beaming.
Héctor and Luisa might just be the power couple of the Oasis Spanish Senior’s group. Since joining, they’ve become a mainstay in the classes and conversations. They’re even serving as class mentors — yes, both of them — sharing their passion for learning and vibrant energy with the rest of the group! There is no slowing them down.
Elliot describes himself as a matchmaker and a talent scout; he is both these things and more. He has an ability to see deeply into people’s personalities and find the best in them. Like a scientist with a microscope, he zeroes in on the talent, the passion, and the unique genius each person has to share, and surfaces it for all to see.
You can find Olesia at Oasis on Tuesday afternoons, helping create grocery bags for the food bank visitors. She makes sure the bags are all as full as possible. “More potatoes!” she insists when a bag feels light. “Five is not enough!”. When it comes to generosity, Olesia makes sure not a single morsel of food goes ungiven.
